Looking for serious answers only please b/c I have something that is causing concern....

Back in June 2006 I fell, fractured my leg and tore a knee ligament... I had surgery, pins inserted, and then a manipulation later on (October) because I could not bend my knee much. Since about August I hadn't had a period...they kind of just stopped and I asked if that could just be from the medications I was taking and stuff and I had somebody from a medical profession write back and tell me yes, and also the stress of everything. Around December I started getting a little bit of bleeding, but really only noticable when I would wipe, not enough to use a pad or tampon. Then January rolled around and on the 24th I got a full period... unfortunately for me, I still have it... It's been heavier than I've ever had it. Changing tampons every 2 hours.

What is concerning me and my husband is the fact that it's still pretty heavy (every 3-3.5 hours or so for tampon change) and I'm not sure if it's just lining or clots but I've had a lot of it and it's making me and my husband rather nervous.

Has this happened to anybody else, or suggest anything that may help with it (the clotting or whatever it is) and the cramp/tightness I feel in my stomach????

I've been off the meds since roughly Nov (June-August I was on blood thinners and from June-November I was on pain killers). I was hoping to find someone who has been through something similar so I would know if it would be a cause for concern rather than people guessing. I know people seem to be suggesting to go to the dr's but for going so long without a period I just didn't know if this might be normal for starting up again...

Well i have never been through anything with the meds but i do know how it is for your period to last long and be really heavy. and like u i thought it was nothing to worry about b/c it had not been on for 13 months. after it came back on it lasted for 22 days and when it came back on i went to the doctor b/c it had been on for awhile like 11 days well anyways my doctor said its not normal if youre having to change a pad every 2-3 hours. that means something is wrong. if its just going on for a long time its annoying but its just starting back up again. but since youre going through your pads so often you definitely need to go to the doctor. your doctor may prescribe a low dose birth control pill to regulate it.

You could be having a miscarriage. Or it could be a heavy period because it was so long between periods.
You need to see a doctor soon. Tomorrow at the latest. You could become anemic. So eat foods that are full of iron: spinach, liver...
You can also get iron pills at the drugstore.

You either need to go tto the ER or go see a Doctor asap. Changing a tampon every two hours is far from normal. It could have nothing to do with your leg. You could have a ruptured cyst or anything.

you really ought to call your gyno because that is not normal. Even if it is being caused by meds you need to change your meds. Also losing that much may leave you anemic or something bad. Get that looked into asap.

Ok...its only been 11 days, so far--its still consistantly heavy and hasn't looked like its starting to stop? Call up your OBGYN and General Practitioner asap and talk to them about this issue.

You need to see a General Practitioner first, then maybe your OB GYN. If it is concerning you immensely, you need to go to the ER. If you cannot afford that, please at least go to a walk-in clinic to seek attention. This is my opinion, I am definitely NOT a doctor.

like many others have said go see a gynocologyst. but i think its pretty normal. 11 days isnt much. it should go back to normal. u just got off the cycle for a little while, and will get back on track. but like others have said, the best bet is to see a gynocologyst. gl.

Like they say, never trust something that can bleed for 7 days and not die...
