I am at my wits end here. She sleeps only 8 hours a day at most.--I feed her, change her, rock her...she is not colicky...she is just wide awake and refuses to close her eyes and sleep...

Maybe you should take her to her doctor

My first baby acted like this, too. It's very hard! The first step is to do ANYTHING to get her to sleep. I walked for hours around the mall because that made my daughter sleep every time. We also walked in the woods. Long car rides worked well, too. Once your baby gets a little more sleep, she'll start to want more sleep. Make sense? Where is she sleeping? Have you tried putting her down (swaddled tightly) in the car seat? Have you tried a swing? Do you have a sling? My baby also liked to sleep in my bed. Make sure you read a good book to learn how to baby-proof your bed. One more idea: Is it possible that she is hungry again? Even if she just finished a feeding? Good luck. I know this is hard.

Sounds like baby is trying to fool you. They try to see what they can get you to do. Is baby fussy when she stays up? If she isn't then there isn't a problem, is she is then I would suggest just putting her in the crib and trying to see if she goes to sleep on her own. My daughter ( 6 mo) tries to pull the wool over my eyes but I know better and if she is fed and changed and burped and I know she is tired then she has to cry it out. Its heart breaking but eventually she learned that nap time was nap time and play time was play time and now she sleeps for 4 hours during the day and 12 at night with no problems.

That mau just be her sleeping pattern right now, she is very small still. Be grateful shes not colickly all day or night long. My daughter was til she was 6 months. You cant force her to sleep if she isnt tired. so call someone to help you get a break before you flip out. Your baby can sense your feelings

My parents had this problem with my younger sister. They just ignored her and eventually she started sleeping through the night

She will sleep when she is tired and will fall into her own sleep pattern eventually.
