I have to write a historical investigation that is about 2000 words in length. I would prefer to do something about World War 2, but I need a particular topic. If you have any suggestions it would be greatly appreaciated.

A very interesting topic you could look into is the "second front" controversy. The Russians wanted the Americans to join their attack on Germany from the East (thus giving them support and greating one huge force in the fight against the Nazis). A lot of scholars think that this is one of the actions that lead to the Cold War.
You could approach this topic from a number of differnt angles.

USA's role in smuggling Germany's scientific leaders into southamerica and not being brought to trial for their crimes
