Yea, I good friend of mine orderes rare hamburgers all the time. It doesn't look appealing, with all the blood dripping off, but I had a bite and it wasnt that bad. I don't know if I would want to eat a whole rare burger, but a bite or two isnt bad!

Since I've never worked in a Hamburger joint or restuarant serving hambergers I have to say no. I'm sure it has happened though. If you like yours rare why not just buy hamburger meat and slap it on a bun and microwave it to suit yourself. Wont take much time and will cost less than if you order it rare.

yes I do it all the time... tastes just like chicken. Oh that is my pat answer for everything... Getting back to rare hamberger. Actually I do enjoy a rare (red in the middle) hamberger but it is not wise to do that any more as ground hamberger is exposed at all levels to possible contamination. (Particularly E.Coli) Steak however remains sterile inside and is not usually contaminated where as if there is contamination it is only on the surface and the cooking usually cures that. My mother used to tell me that in Kansas and maybe Oklahoma they used to advertise Raw hamberger sandwiches. They used to call it some special name that escapes me... Not seen much any more though I suspect.

When I was a server a woman ordered a rare burger with dried blue cheese. By the time I dropped the burger off at her table I was ready to vomit.

Yes, but with e-coli bacteria outbreaks common with hamburger meat, why would you? Cooked medium or beyond is safest.
