weight of metal = m
radius of metal = r
k = constant
m = k r^3
4.06 = k (3)^3---(1)
m = k (5)^3----(2)
(2)/(1)
m/4.06 = (5/3)^3
m = 4.06 (5/3)^3
m = 18.796 kg

Let
w = weight of sphere with 5 inch radius

w = (5/3)³(4.06) = (125/27)(4.06) = 18.796296 kg.

2007-02-04 22:40:57 · answer #2 · answered by Northstar 7 · 0 0

3^3 = 27
5^3 = 125
4.06 kg / 27 * 125 = 18.7962963kg

2007-02-04 22:38:35 · answer #3 · answered by Tim P. 5 · 0 0

w=kr^3
4.06=k*3^3
k=4.06/3^3

w=4.06/3^3*5^3 = 18.796
