So he is playing an electric guitar, holding on to an electric microphone, in the middle of a half-time down pour, and he didn't get crispy crittered by an electric shock.

What's up with that?

I was watching and wondering about this - I saw the guitar was plugged in to something.....the mic could have been wireless.

He shoes may have been insulated.

It's a basic scientific concept known as electrical grounding. With it, you can use electricity and not "get crispy crittered." Not every electrical device requires a massive amount of electricity - some only require the equivalent of a D-battery.

I didn't see it, but I have used a wireless mic before. Some also use wireless guitars and other instruments. Others prefer the wired ones. Even the wired ones are grounded to prevent any problems.

P.S. That is a big NO on the insulated shoes. Even if a pair of shoes was insulated, the rain flowing over them would form a path for electricity. Another reason why it is dangerous to be golfing in a storm.

My friends who have guitars use a cable that has a covering of wire mesh inside it. The wire mesh is grounded, so you would be safe with that kind of cable. If the guitar was wireless, you might still see a cable going from the guitar to a transmitter on his belt.

Also, car tires do conduct electricity. In fact, there is a chemical put into the tires, just for that purpose. It seems that people had a lot of problems with static electricity before they did that, years ago. I had a friend who actually made tires in a factory.

He never meant to make you happy, he never meant to make you sad, there was no cord in that guitar and that makes it hard shock him singing in the Purple rain....

I don't think his guitar was corded. I didn't see one when he was moving around the stage. Maybe it was a sync track due to the weather??

Duh! It was prerecorded just like Brittany "no talent" Spears. I like prince too but they record all of that stuff to insure quality especially on T.V. Sorry to let the cat out of the bag. Watch their throats to see if it looks like they are singing. Also, P.A. systems have very low wattage and are grounded just like home speakers.

Didn't watch it, but it could have been play back. You know like Ashley Simpson on SNL.

Because (and Chicago fans can testify to this) sometimes you just don't get what you desperately want! Even though it seems like true justice, you just don't get it....
