After a team wins a Super Bowl championship, the trophy is presented to the team owner before the coaches or any of the players. Why is that?

Well, the owner OWNS the team, he writes the checks and everything.
Also, it's so the owner of the team can give it to the head coach himself.

It always stinks watching the rich old owners on TV taking the trophy, but it is THEIR TEAM. They own the team, they get the trophy. It isn't like college sports where the university gets it. The trophy is the property of the owner. In this sense they are no different than thoroughbred owners at horserace. Those who do the work don't get the award -- the owner does. That being said, it is part of the broadcast I could do without.

They give it to the owner because he is the person responsible for the team in the first place. If at your job your company wins an award, the owner will accept it, not the workers. The owner is the person who hires and pays the GM, the team president, the coach, the assistants, the scouts, the training staff, the players, the cheerleaders. He is also responsible for getting the stadium, getting the team to and from games, etc. Does he do all this himself? No. But he is the one person most responsible/

For all the people who answered "because he owns the team", then why isn't the Stanley Cup presented to the owners? the World Series trophy presented to the owners? and I presume the NBA championship trophy isn't presented to the owners either.
I would have to say it is because the owners of football teams are narcissistic and just want their TV time.

Because their woudn't be a team with out the owner. Plus, he pays the bills and keeps the Trophy.

Gee I wonder why too. He only pays everyones salary that is still on the field at that time. But i think they should give it to the kicker first, because they are the best athletes.
