To be honest...I think that most liberals are a little too "feel good" for me and conservatives are far to...conservative....for me.

as usual, rather than asking you about what you actually DO think (about an issue), it is all too easy to label you as the enemy.

liberals have no tolerance for those that have an opinion that differs from theirs, and since they honestly believe that what they think is correct, why would they waste their breath asking you what it is that you meant to say? or to ask you what your political stance really is and why it is?

if i give an unbiased article to one of my liberal friends that undermines his liberal stance, he cannot even argue with me. because he sticks to his opinion as though there is no room for any other.

a huge problem exists in such narrow minded thinking in that should only one political party rule, we shall then amount to totalitarianism, and most likely, our government will then be open to a dictator taking control. in that instance, liberals that do not agree will have no civil liberties to say whatever they want.

it does not matter to me whether a person aligns themselves with any political party so long as they can discuss their stance with me, providing the reasons behind it. since i listen to them, i want them to listen fairly to me. i don't see one liberal as right and one as wrong, and the same goes for conservatives. but it's really a matter of what reasoning underlies their beliefs. then, when i know, i analyze in my mind whether that person is a hypocrite. then i will really challenge him.

and i will challenge anyone, i do not care what party they align themselves with, that attempts to take my freedom to say what i want, based on my own beliefs, away from me.

there should not be prejudgement but rather analytical thought. it is not correct for anyone to just simply assume that you are conservative if you do not happen to agree with each and everything that they say and do. if you are not a liberal, why would it mean that you are then a conservative? it doesn't make sense. but people that allow themselves to be led around like sheep tend not to even try to make sense. they move with the herd, which is always easier than thinking about the steps they are taking.

stand up for your free thinking and simply for your having your own thoughts. this is a free country, and it should stay that way.

You could be a Libertarian, a Communist, a Fascist but I don't think people want to get that detailed. The terms Liberal and Conservative are widely bantied about in a very general way. It is lie the Conservatives, self defined, who think everyone who disagrees with them are Liberals or traitors or both.

Funny thing about political discussions. They get people all fired up and they want to get that zinger in or answer the other guy so many assumptions are made.

Many political talk show hosts have repeatedly made the statement that if you don't agree with everything they say you are a liberal. Due to this polarization of politics the public has the idea that there are only two camps. "You are either with us or against us."

However, most U.S. citizens have diverse views. I am liberal about women's rights, but I am conservative about illegal immigration. I believe a person should save for retirement, but I believe Social Security is an important safety net for those unable to save enough. I believe every person has a right to own firearms, and defend themselves from intruders in their own home, but I no longer support the death penalty because of police and prosecutorial misconduct in too many cases. You can see I don't fit neatly into either camp.

People don't see the "gray areas" of political thought. They see everything in "black and white". Not the races, but saying it is hard to find common/middle ground or anything to agree on.
So liberals see right wing conspiracy around every corner and vice versa for conservatives; and nothing much gets accomplished, and our enemies laugh because we are a house divided against itself.

Simple a liberal like middle finger can't spell the word (with)

BEFORE middlefinger answers a question , she might want to write it down and run it by a few people BEFORE she decides to make it a permanent post!

It's a common assumption because moderates are an endangered species in our political zoo.

What else is there? All political parties are either conservative or liberal.
