If the person responds, then they have their reward, and continue on. If there is no reward, then eventually, they will stop. It wouldn't hurt to be kind to these people if you have the chance to since they will be viewed badly if they either continue, or do something to you when you try to do good to them. I remember one guy who was doing his absolute best to insult me. He added a comment that I agreed with to him and it made him look absolutely stupid. Eventually, we became good friends.

Whenever you start to think that, force your mind to think of something else to replace that. It doesn't matter what it is. That way, after a little bit, your mind will be accustomed to that thought in that situation instead of "Your Mom...".
