yeah my friend deleted a lot of my stuff on my computer and i was wondering if there is anything you can do to recover the documents/pics. thanks =]

there are several data recovery programs out there, and as long as the portion of the hardrive that the information resided on is not already rewritten to something else you can recover them, if they are pictures you may not get the full picture back, just do a search for file recovery at http://www.download.com to get started.

Pics document and other files you deleted from computer(even deleted from recycle bin or Shift and delete) were not erased permanently.They are just inaccessible or invisible.The space your deleted files located on is marked as free space that can be occupied or taken by new data.Therefore,you can recover your deleted files with data recovery software. there are many programs for this, i have used pc inspector file recovery in the past, it's pretty good. ps most of them cost money.
and by the way, system restore does not affect your own files at all, it will not bring back deleted files, it works with system configurations and such, for example if you mess up your network settings and your internet ceases to work

You can do a system restore to a date before it got deleted.

Pick a date and let er rip.

Is it still in your recycle bin?
Other than that, without a trained expert, the chances you will be getting them back are very slim. Back everything up next time.
