The best way to see if baby has a food allergy is to eliminate it from the diet, MOST babies do not have an allergy to their mothers milk whitch is one of the reasons it is better to breast feed. You can try to eliminate dairy from your diet and see if that helps. Some babies are just gassy, are you burping him very good, I always tried to get more than one burp out. As far as I know how much he eats is normal, my daughter was drinking 4 oz every 3 hours when she was 2 weeks old. And the reflux is usually characterize by a lot of spitting up, by alot I mean half or more of the meal and they usually cry alot when laid flat. I had to buy a crib wedge for my daughter so she didn't lay flat, they also suggest not laying baby down at all for 30 minutes after the meal. So all in all it could be a number of things and the best thing to do it start with better burping and then eliminating dairy from your diet, Mylicon drops work wonders but like most medicine you don't want to give it alot. If it continues then I would contact the doctor and see what they say.

It is exceptionally rare for an infant/baby to be lactose intolerant. It is probably a problem with the milk protein in the formula. Milk protein goes by many names, including whey and casein. Soy formula generally contains this protein. I swear by Similac's Alimentum. If it is the milk protein, Alimentum should GREATLY improve him within 24 hrs. You have nothing to lose by trying it. I had a son so allergic to the protein, that he actually pooped blood. There was so much blood, it looked like a cycle. He had horrific gas that gas drops didn't even touch. Babies can even be allergic to breast milk. My last son was that same way. He would projectile vomit his feed. Be careful to watch him because he can choke on his own vomit, and stop breathing. Mine did. He was so allergic that he went on Similac's Elecare.

I don't know about latose intolerance. but for acid reflux go to the source that i listed to find symptoms and other info.Parents often see the result as spitting up, though vomiting may also occur. GER can occur at times other than during or shortly after a feeding. Reflux can occur when babies cough, cry, or strain also.

You cant tell if your baby has any allegies for at least a year.

Both my sons are lactose intolerant but I didnt find out for a year or so. I took them for allergy test that showed they were allergic to milk. I now have them on soy based products.

If you're nursing, try keeping a log of what you eat including the times. Then, when you feed the baby and their reation after. If they react badly after you eat a certain food, that may be the issue.

Try cutting Dairy out of your diet. It should help. If it doesn't, you might have other problems. It sounds like lactose intolerant. Good Luck!

You know the child is lactose intolerant if the child throws up or breaks out in hives, or contantly has diarrhea.
