it could be the switch, or relay. when you press the button does it shift into the four wheel drive? If you feel it does, then its just the light inside the switch. regardless if the light is on or not, it should shift into four wheel drive when the switch is pressed.

It could not be hooked up properly. It was like that on my truck. Got to say it though...it's a ford, or course it won't work :P
