You're right. They don't. What I am sure the little girl was referring to was the 'idea' of the use of the torchlights some of the passengers had. The use of flashlights by Titanic's crew as depicted in the various Titanic movies, has always intrigued me. I never thought about flashlights existing in 1912. In Cameron's movie, they were depicted as being bulkier, almost like a battery-operated lantern. In ANTR or Titanic (with B. Stanwick), they were depicted as the tubular form we are so familiar with now. (If my memory serves me correctly)

If I remember correctly, the daughter was using the flashlight to try to communicate to their neighbors (flashing an S.O.S. signal) by Morse code. And, since in the movie, the Titanic's crew used Morse code to send out a distress signal (S.O.S.) to other ships after they found out the ship was sinking, that's most likely what she meant by "I learned it from 'Titanic.'"

Rose blew a whistle...I dont remember a flashlight. Unless she meant the rescuers.

im not sure but they might do that when the men in the rescue boat are trying to find rose, and she sees them flashing it, but im not positive

didnt the boat shine a light to say it was in distress...they didnt have flashlights back then i dont think. lanterns maybe.

hi there yes the people in the boats when they went back to get the ones in the water when rose blow the whistle she seen the the flash from the flashlighs and heard them calling. now you making me cry .................................................that is almost at the end of the movie
