Can anyone help me find a legal aid lawyer in london
SE1. I am being threatened with eviction from council. I have had the tenancy since Aug 2005, and i have spent a fortune on decorating it. I get full hb & rates allowance. The flat is not furnished as i haven't had the money to do it. But i spent £1000 on a professional decorator to do it up for me. The reason i haven't physically moved in is because my mum suffers from acute emphysema and i am supporting her. She stays in Edinburgh and i can get doctors letter confirming this. However, the council have said they are going to evict me as i am not staying in the property
Does anyone have any suggestions as to what to do. The council are not listening to me and i am very worried at the prospect of losing my flat.

losing the security of your home is awful and daunting. If you ring the local CAB they will tell you your rights, you can even get a free half hour session with a solicitor. They can even give you names and numbers of solicitors that deal with legal aid. If you have a welfare rights organisation in your area you should speak to them as well.

Go to your local Citizens Advice Bureau, you will probably find the address in a library and phone book, your local council may be able to help or phone Shelter on 0808 800 4444

If you're not living there, give it up for someone else who really needs it.
