Like they say, you have to pick your battles. There are some things I don't bother with because it's a waste of my time and ultimately not harmful to the kids. But there are things that do need to be addressed, and like you said, it could be a 10 a day struggle, but it's one worth fighting for to raise proper and respectful children.
Nice question by the way!

you have to teach them right from wrong. always. all day long. the job doesn't end and give you a break. that's what you signed on for when you had them. which is not to say treat all things equally. if they are violent or dropping out of school those are more important than if you don't like their clothes or hair they want to wear. prioritize so that they can distinguish what to value.

Honestly, probably give in sometimes, but always try to teach them right from wrong in the first place to avoid those moments.

Children learn very young what their parents limits are and which buttons to push. Sounds to me like the child is testing the boundries, and will do that for many years. They have to know your expectations.

if you give in, then he will put up a bigger fight when you try to stop him again, never let them have it their way or they will never learn and become spoiled/bratty, trust me, i used to work at a kids place and watch all the bad parents who didnt discipline their bad kids. i dont think there are bad kids, only bad parents.
