Britain declared war on Germany in 1939. Germany wasn't happy about all the reparations they had to pay because of the Versailles Treaty. That was as a result of World War I, Germany was blamed for everything. Their country went into poverty because of it and they thought it was unfair. The German people looked for a new leader to bring them out of this depression. Hitler was power hungry and invaded Poland so we declared war. The US entered because Japan bombed Pearl Harbor on December 7th. They entered on 8th December 1941. The war ended in 1945 after the US dropped atomic bombs in Japan. I think Germany and Italy surrendered before Japan. I remember this from school so I haven't got a link.

Try Wikipedia. It started in 1939, Hilter invaded Poland, the US went in 1941 because of Dec,7 Pearl Harbour. see more at Wikipdia.
