To me, saying, "You're Black and you're coaching in the Super Bowl," is like saying, "You're short, and you're teaching an AP class." Isn't that insulting?

Cross: Try being a 5'4 male HS teacher, earning the respect of mouthy, obnoxious, smart-*** teenagers who are a foot taller than you, and being good enough that the principal lets you teach an AP class. Then tell me it's no big deal.

Its nothing like beingshort and teaching an AP class.
It was because 20 years ago, it was said that no black coach would be able to coach a team to the superbowl.

No. While I think the continuous questioning of the coaches about it is a bit much, it bears repeating. A really big deal will be when the first black GM wins a superbowl. While blacks have a disproportionate representation as players, they have almost 0 presence in the office.

I think the media went overboard with the fact.
who cares if your red white yellow black or brown
the fact is if you're the best at what you do you should get credit for that and only that.
That is why Tony went all the way he is a great coach and I love his style of coaching

Because it's a national first and considering the percentage of Black participants in football (players as well as coaches), it's fairly amazing that this is the first time ANY Black coach has made it to the SB. This shows there is a disproportionately low number of Black head coaches in the NFL. It's typical that minorities are able to get into various fields but often kept out of the upper echelons.
It's also cool that this year the SB was a bit later than usual which put it in Black Awareness Month.

It's stupid. The media makes big deal out of everything. I don't understand a lot of things like why is there a black history month but no mexican history month, chinese history month, indian history month, white history month etc. It's ridicoulous and makes no since to me. Skin color is skin color. It's not what's on the outside that people like or dislike it's what's on the inside and how people present themselves as a culture or community that matters. I like some black people and dislike some black people the same way I like/dislike white, black, pink, purple, green, blue, hell the whole damn rainbow. It has nothing to do with a persons color and I wish the freakin media and rest of the world could get past color.

They need to run their mouth to fill air time. If it's at all different, it's noteworthy.
It would only be analogous to the 'short people teaching AP' if short people had previously been very rare as AP teachers.
Black football coaches have been a little rare, so I guess it's more of a cool thing than someone like Biden saying something like "wow, Barak, an articulate black man" - that was just stupid.

Well..because...it is a very big deal!
The insulting thing is that there aren't more Black head-coaches in the NFL and the AFC!

You are joking, right?
It is a historic game because it will be the first superball game in which a black coach lead the team to victory.

The ignorant media does not realize that the more they focus on the difference the more they set back equal rights.
