It is very cold here. Bring a Parka, long johns, turtlenecks and anything else you can layer. It is supposed to be below zero all week at night but tonight and tomorrow are supposed to be the worst. It is -18 where I am just north of metro right now. Have a good trip.

I am pretty sure that Dianamite is kidding about wearing no jacket/light jacket once it's 15 above zero -- that's still fricken cold!!
You are going to want to wear everything in layers like others suggested!! If you aren't used to temps BELOW zero...you will be in for a shock this week! Wearing all layers will help, a heavy coat, hat, mittens, scarf to cover your face/mouth if you aren't used to it or plan on walking any distance.
Good luck!! Hopefully your stay will be short and you won't have to put up with this assinine weather of ours for long!! I am enduring my LAST winter here myself!! Then I am getting the heck out of this inhumane climate!!

i'm Somali too, 18 years previous. I completely get what you're dealing with. i'm also no longer in touch in Somali boys. in spite of the undeniable fact that this is basically all own determination. no longer all Somalis are shady or interest seekers. you are able to't generalize an entire community in accordance with some human beings. it would want to no longer make a lot of a distinction to you, yet you should include what you're. do not hate it, basically be you, if no longer wearing a hijab is what you pick pass ahead. yet you may want to not take it to the point of hating what you're. on the end of the day, it doesn't count number what you're, Somali, mixed race or in spite of.

Welcome to the frozen north! Today my husband and his friends played football outside - it's all about layers! (long underwear, sweatpants, more sweatpants, t shirt, long-sleeved shirt, sweatshirt, etc etc).
If you've got to be dressed up, then make sure you are at least wearing warmer socks, a t-shirt under your shirt, gloves, a scarf, and a hat (as well as a coat, of course). It's chilly, but it's supposed to be 2 ABOVE zero tomorrow so it won't be as bad as today was.
By Wednesday it will be about 15 above -- that usually means no coat (or at least a light jacket) this time of year.

They key is a heavy coat. It's only cold when you're outdoors, and the coat will keep you warm. If you're visiting the Twin Cities area (or Rochester or Duluth) chances are you'll use heated skywalks to get anywhere you want to go.

Probably about everything you own, just one layer on top of another!
