Just nails that were painted crazy but not too long that she couldn't do her work. Also, I know this may seem irrelevant, but could you list your age with your answer? Usually I see more older people come in than people my age (25) or younger, so I want to get an idea of what certain age groups think.

BTW I know I'm gonna get a lot of "do what you want, who cares what anyone else thinks", but before you jump there, you have to remember, I work in a professional environment, and if I have 1 patient complain, then my boss can ask me to remove them, so yes, I HAVE to care what people think.

My boss is very conservative about stuff like this and I've never had them done up really crazy. It was just a thought and I wanted to get some input. I really appreciate it ladies!

If they are not interfearing with yourwork then get them done however you want. I would keep the clothes to a more professional attire. But the nails get them done inyour own way. I always had my nails done with designs, scenes and masterpeices and none of my bosses ever had a problem. I would not do any outlandish designs in the beginning (maybe some simple airbrushing stripes, then add rhinestones, then colours, etc) Work your way up to full designs. Though stay away from very odd out of place things (racial designs or symbols). My companies only cared about dress code. Im 27 and been doing my nails for 12 years.

Why would you want to make your nails eccentric or unconventional looking if you are working in a professional environment, like you said?
People judge others by what they wear so would someone walk into a serious job with casual clothes and still expect to be taken seriously?

If you are so worried then I would recommend the conservative approach, it's the best bet to be taken seriously.

I don't mean never do something with your nails but I think you should try wearing real nails [not those really creepy long nails that some women wear]. Colours, patterns I think are fine but you should know what would be over the top in your kind of work environment. 16

lol ok i'm 16 years old and i think working in a professional environment can have a big impact on your style and everything but i would compliment you on your nails and stuff and i would think it was cool that someone can let loose in their work environment...i used to work at a place once and i had purple hair..a lip and nose ring and a tattoo and i got compliments all the time lol even if they were being sarcastic lol but ya i would totally go for it and even if you get some people who don't appreciate it ...think of other people who will lol

I personally (being 17 years of age and female) would keep my nails painted clear with french nude underneath. If i saw a receptionist working in a medical office with crazy nails i would think it tacky. No offence.

Hi.. I think that if it isn't interfering with your work.. does it matter if they are painted or not. I personally like different styles of painted nails.. :) People are constantly grabbing my hand and asking where I had my nails done :) So i reckon that if ur doing ur job and ur nails aren't interfering in that process it should be ok :)
Take care :)

As long as you can still do your work I don't see a problem. Ask your boss what he/she thinks. I'd enjoy seeing this as it would add some pizazz to a normally stuffy environment.

I'm older than 25 by quite a few years :-)

A little bit of toenail is fine... but I agree along with you. Long nails are kinda major.
