How do you make a mp3 file from windows media player so that it will go on ipod?

right click on the song you want to change...it will ask where do you want this to go..click on your iTunes file, should work..

I'm not exactly sure what you're asking. If you own an iPod, then you probably have iTunes. just use iTunes.
