1. 9/11At work. In the evening I met my daughter, who had also been at work for a drink. She went to the bar and came back saying that someone had blown up the tallest building in the world in the USA. I remarked it must have been a bloody big bomb because the tallest building in the world was in Malaysia. After we'd cleared up what had really happened, I said, 'Well, let's hope that this time the USA go it alone and don't involve everyone else.' - Fat chance!
2. Death of Princess Diana. In Switzerland. Turned on the teletext (ceefax) on Sunday morning and immediately thought that the secret service were involved.
3. Tsunami.In Switzerland.
4. Death of John Lennon. In San Francisco. We'd just flown in from Hong Kong and I turned on the TV in the hotel room. Convinced me that the USA is not the best place in the world. OK, I wanted to see San Francisco, we had friends in Los Angeles and I was interested in New Orleans - and of course the children were still young enough to be taken to Disney World. Don't anticipate ever returning.
5. Moon landing.Don't remember, probably little old England.
6. Death of JFK.In England, at the cinema. I was staying with friends and when I got back all the radio stations were playing organ music. I asked why and that's when I found out - everyone was looking very miserable.
Forgotten? The attempted assassination of the Pope.
Cracking the DNA code.
First 'test tube' baby.

You missed out the 7/7 bomings in london!
Still, on 9/11, I was 16, I had come in from shopping and turned on the news to see a plane had crashed into the WTC, I thought that was an accident, but it turned out to be terrorists.
When Diana died, I was at home watching a recorded St Helens match against Widnes, then my mum told me that Diana had died, I didn't take much notice in what my mum had said as I was busy watching St Helens beat Widnes. It then dawned in my what mum had actually said, I switched off the video and turned to Sky News and saw the mangled wreck of a car, and then the newsreader said Diana had died. I didn't watch her funeral though, I was at work then!
When the Tsunami happened, I was nursing a Christmas day hangover!
I was born in 1985, so I wasn't alive when Lennon was shot, or when man first walked on the moon, or when Kennedy was assassinated.
When 7/7 happened, I had just woke up and switched in the news and saw about fifty emergency vehicles in london, I thought that was a gas explosion, but it turned out to be terrorists.

When JFK was assassinated, I was in a bar in the Haymarket in Central London. Within minutes of the news going on air, the West End shut down. Theatres closed, bars emptied. We all went home.
The 1969 Moon Landing - I was at work for abc News at their London bureau. I was the duty telegrapher that day. Watched the whole thing on TV. Brilliant.
9/11 - Was at work but did not know anything about until I arrived home at about 4pm London time and saw an enormous billow of smoke coming out of the Twin Towers on TV.

9/11 - I was in my apartment when a friend called and said to watch CNN.
Princess Di - cannot honestly remember
Tsunami - it was the day after Christmas, probably at home
John Lennon - I was in high school. I still remember it on TV.
That day really sucked.
I was 5 when the moon landing took place. I vaguely remember seeing it on television, but could be mixed up with one of the other moon landings.
You forgot the Challenger Disaster, January 1986.

9/11 in Chicago on my way to work in a cab,
Princess Diana died the weekend of my birthday - at home on the couch before going to dinner, the tsunami I was at home in Iowa, John Lennon's death I watched in horror in an apt in Oak Park, when a man landed on the moon, there were several occasions, the first though was right before I was born.

9/11: deliberating in a jury room on a civil (as opposed to criminal) trial.
Princess Diana's death: working my part-time job at the circulation desk of a branch of the local library.
When the tsunami occurred: in bed, sleeping.
When John Lennon was shot: at home, taking care of my preschool age son.
The moon landing (hey, this was a happy one!): watching it on TV with my family and then writing about it in my diary.
When JFK was assassinated: in a sixth-grade classroom, waiting for three o'clock to come so I could start enjoying my weekend.
The Challenger explosion: between classes at a community college. I ditched the rest of the day and went to a friend's house to watch the developments.
