Just because his problems don't seem like problems to you they're his problems.
As a friend you can kiddingly say....man, what are you complaining about? You at least have a car.
Since he's your friend you should be able to tell him how it sounds sometimes when he complains.

They say money isn't everything and here's your proof. He is obviously not that happy. I think you aught to forget about the fact that he has money and stuff, because I'm sure there are things that you have that he wants and doesn't have. It could be closeness to family and friends. Just reiterate to him what he does have and what he should be thankful for, and keep in mind what you have to be thankful for as well. That will help you get through it. I have the same thing going on with me. At first I was jealous and tired of hearing it, but then I realized that I was pretty lucky in my own right and actually happier then my rich sister in law. It really pisses her off that I am happy and that I can be with her and encourage her instead of acting jealous.

He probably doesn't understand how this makes you feel. Everyone lives different lives in their own little worlds. While one person's biggest problem may be how to keep food on the table, another person may never have had to worry about that and their biggest problem is a pimple on a big night. It is difficult for people to understand the plights of others without actually experiencing them themselves. Maybe you should take this guy to volunteer at a soup kitchen or some sort of charitable event where the people in benefit are actually in plain sight so he can get even a small taste of other peoples lives.

Well, first of all, all rich people are like this. Even people who arn't rich, the more and more you get, the more you still want. But that does't mean we are all going to go blow our money, because we have to work for it. Your friend on the other hand lives like money grows on trees and does not have to work for it. So he doesn't appreciate the things he does have because they were practically handed to him. You just need to take these things to mind and talk to him about it as nicely as you can.
Also, maybe if you think this is good, whenever he says somethin like that, just say "well atleast you HAVE a cell" or something but not in a suppressive way

Maybe tell the rich kid to think about poor people, and what they go through life and how they survive. Maybe you can come up with a challenge like you limit how much he can spend per week. Then, he'll probably learn his lesson

I hate to sound harsh...but may sound like you are a "little" jealous? Just let him be later he will realize that rubbing stuff in people's face aint good. Don't sweat it and keep your head up.

Try telling him whats up. Maybe he'll stop, but he might just be trying to make you jealous.
