Fraps is a computer program that can record from games. Unfortunately it costs money to get the version without stupid limitations and even then it's a huge system drag making games run slow when it's on. You could use it to record the PC version of Halo but if you want to record the Xbox version you can either run your Xbox VGA cables through the VCR and record it to tape or get a video capture device for your computer which will work in pretty much the same way as running it through your VCR would do. I recommend an external USB video capture device like the Pinnacle Studio Movie Box USB. Normally it's used for recording video from a camcorder but it can read from anything that uses VGA cables (red, white, yellow cables).
