If compared to someone like Bill Gates, then I'm poor.
If compared to someone on hard times, I'm wealthy.
I retired at 37. I live a decent life. I buy my clothes from JC Penney and Sears. I drive Toyota vehicles. (My vehicle is a 91) I eat regular food. Go out to eat once a week. I always have and will love being outdoors. I do not own a boat. (I did have a 48' sail boat) I do have a pilot's license. (Sold my plane)
I'm not a snob, and my wife buys things on sale. We taught our children to be frugal, and they live very happy lives. We do lots of volunteer work, sponsor charities, and support our church.
I spend my spare time carving wood, prospecting, hunting, and fishing.
I prefer not to shop at Wal-Mart because of their monopoly. There is a small community grocery store very close to Wal-Mart, and we shop there. The prices are the same, and the meat is much better.
We went to NYC to see our son's play. We walked down 5th Ave., but bought our trinkets off the street vendors.
So to answer your question: We are considered well off, but not snobs.
And yes, when I was a teenager I was alone in this world. No parents, no money, just 2 pair of jeans a 3 shirts. I finished my Bachelor's, Masters, and Doctorate degrees without financial help and they didn't have student loans then.

I am not poor, but I will shop anywhere where I can find a bargain, I don't like running free advertisement for designers, if the want me to wear their name on my clothing they should pay me. Otherwise I buy nice, fairly expensive clothing that will last.
The only thing I really buy from Designers are the fragrances like Burberry etc.

I'm proud to say that I'm a girl that shops at walmart or target that happens to be poor. I don't really care for name brand clothes. Even if I could afford those clothes, I wouldn't waste my money on them.

I don't consider myself poor, even though I do shop at walmart a lot. I could shop at some other places, but I'm saving my money and spending a lot of it on the weekends.

I don't shop for clothes at walmart, but definitely not Saks either. Probably more like Hot Topic, Kohl's, JC Penny or the like.

I spend my money for wine and other monthly bills.
I go to Sears and the Bay for shoes, clothes and accesories. Skin treatment Neutrogena. Make up Rimmel. Casuals Gap.
Walmart is good for grocery I think, but for other things their prices don't match the quality. You can get same price better quality at Sears or the Bay sometimes.

Not that well off. If it tells you anything, I used to work at Wal-Mart. I usually shop there, JC Penny's, Macy's, American Eagle, etc. I think Abercrombie is too expensive.
