For scrubs, I've heard many dermatologists say that you can use just plain ol' sugar, but be very gentle with it and don't do it more than twice a week. Although I do find it to be useful, I only do it once every two weeks or when I am out of facial scrubs because I like to get scrubs that have things in them to help with blackheads, oil, and so on.
Also, you can use just plain kiwi as a scrub. This makes my skin look amazing when i use it!
A body scrub is really really easy to make. Just mix brown sugar, almond oil, and if you want it to be scented, then some drops of either vanilla extract or lavender oil.

As for face masks, I have tried almost every one on the market, and I still love the ones I make at home better. This can be really easy, just rub some fruit like strawberries or watermelon on your face, and call it a mask. When using fresh fruit you have to leave it on a lot longer than a store bought mask, so I can only do it when I have an hour to spare, but it gives my skin the most amazing glow and fresh look. You can also mix some finely ground oats with plain full fat yogurt for an exfoliating mask. Or some egg whites for a tightening and oil absorbing mask.
Squash and pumpkin (each on their own) are really good for wrinkles.

Go to your local bookstore and flip through the book Global Beauty. It has lots and lots of ideas of masks from all over the world. They are all amazing, and with all the variety in them, you'll never be bored!

Have fun!
