I know someone who has a daughter named River Elizabeth! I think it's pretty, even though I'm not a big fan of nature-y names.

River? I don't like it. She would get made fun of and you don't want a little girl that comes home and cries! If you're dead set on it though a few names that I could see going with it are: River Peyton, River Leigh, River Mae...I don't know because that's an odd name to think of things that sound cute. Maybe you should consider River as a middle name.

I really like the name River for a girl or a boy. Since it's used more frequently for boys, I would go with a feminine sounding middle name so that people would know it's a girl's name.

I really like River. Although it's sometimes used for boys, I think it also works quite nicely for a girl.

And as for it being "a geological feature, not a name", many, many names actually are references to places, occupations, and physical characteristics because names were for a very long time meant to describe individuals. If a person lived near a river, they might be named for it.

I really like the name River it is very pretty and original. I just think that it might be hard to find a good middle name that goes with it. Congrats on the baby and best of luck to you in the future.

I don't like River as a name. Any reason for river, or do you like the unusual. How about Rowan or Riane? Both are unusual but still have a feminine and classic quality without sounding hippie.

Good Luck

I am not a fan just because everyone will still think of River Phoenix. I would use it as a middle name. How about Chelsea or Kaylee?*
