I have a friend who want's to audition for the role of Ophelia and took a long time selecting an audition monologue. She has actually found one now but I was wondering which monologues you all would have recomended. It must be Shakespeare.

The easiest thing to do would probably be to take one of Ophelia's short monologues. I believe she has one that begins something like "oh what a noble mind is here corrupted" shortly after Hamlet's famous "Get thee to a nunnery" sequence.

I'd recommend a look at Desdemona from "Othello," and perhaps something of Rosalind from "As You Like It." Both of those women are certainly TOUGHER than Ophelia, but I would think that the main objective would be to show the ability to portray the vulnerability of a young woman in love.
