what states in the u.s. can the aurora borealis be seen from other than alaska ? thanks =]

They can be seen from anywhere in the northern hemisphere; however, it is very uncommon to see them anywhere but Alaska. When I saw them here in NH a few years ago, it was like the first time in 200 years.

I live in Upstate NY (near the Canadian border on the St.Lawrence seaway) and we see them quite often in the winter months, and occasionally during the summer.

I've heard of people as far south as Georgia seeing them, but that's pretty rare (you need a HUGE burst from the Sun for that to happen).
