My friend and I were taking about this last night.

When you watch a movie in a theater you are drawn into the movie a lot more. Where ever the director wanted to take you, you are more easily there due to the picture being in your face and the sound surronding you. Ever notice the sound protection and the darkness of the theater. You are sucked into the action.

A movie on television has to compete with all the distractions of what ever is going on in the household. Sometimes it is too light and there can not be the sound that there can be in the theater, even with surrond sound.

I can handle a lot of movies on tv or a dvd player much better than I can handle them in a theater. I'm a panty waist.

However, if you want to get the full impact of a movie it is much better to see it for the first time in a theater.

One apparent difference is the screen is much bigger, however, you may not be as comfortable as you would be in front of your own television. If it's in a theater, it's not gonna come out on DVD for a while, and it's not gonna be on Pay Per View until the DVD is released. Also, you can hang out with people there, and have something good to snack on. But you can just as easily do that at home, right?

You didn't write that someone could not be watching a movie on a television in a theater! So, what are you asking about?

Unless a movie is shown in wide-screen or in letter-box format on television, the sides of the shots will be cut out. Movie theater screens are proportionally longer than standard television screens.

COMMERCIALS!!! At a theatre, there's 1 or 2 commercials, then 2 or 3 trailers, then the movie. On TV, there's a commercial, like, every 15 minutes!!
Also, the whole atmosphere is different, the screen's alot bigger, watching a film at the theatre costs more, on tv they use fullscreen format while in theatres they use widescreen, etc.

Better sound and picture in the theater. T.V. is too small to do most movies justice. Unless you have a huge home theater........

When you watch it in a theatre, my cat can't jump on your lap and knock your tea cup out of your hand, making boiling hot water soak your trousers.
