I have about a thousand pieces of microfiche which holds reports of publications and these microfiches are already emitting the vinegar smell. This could be due to the poor storage condition. I would like to save the contents of these fiches. How do I go about? Can it be cleaned and convert to some other medium. What will the cost involved.TQ.

Most public libraries have the machines that can print the contents to paper. You could also try scanning them into a computer.

Sounds like Vinegar Syndrome. If you have any that don't smell like that then separate them from the "bad" ones at once. It does spread.
