I don't know if you own any pets or not, but a good way in proving yourself responsible is to get your mother to buy you a hamster(small, cheap pet), and show her that you can take care of it well. After a month or so ask her again about the ferret and show her how well you took care of your hamsters. Thats what worked for me and how I convinced my parents to finally get me some ferrets. You may find that after taking care of hamsters that you don't even really want a pet or have time for it, but if you do I'd say start small and work your way up. I mean now I've convinced my parents to get sugar gliders to!!

No- No- No, They are very cute, but so very smelly in the long run you will regret getting a ferret for a pet and your mother would be very unhappy having her house smelled up too.. there is no way to get a ferret to stop smelling either. Can you see by this mile long run on sentence how seriously I feel about this. I speak from experience, as a Mom who has had a ferret in her home, not by my choice. Adult sibling bought it for one of their minor siblings, leaving mom out of the mix and very unhappy.

tell her ferrets are entertaining, cute, fun to play with, and very intelligent, because they really are!! i've had 2 ferrets, and i luved them!! however i see where she's coming from, because ferrets are expensive, high maintenece, and mostly males stink, plus thay'renot that easy to litterbox train from my experience. but if you take responsibility and maybe pay for part, or all of it plus cage and food expenses, she may come around. these things are cute, but take ALOT of handling and responsibility. do as much research as possible before buying, to ensure the best care for them!!
also their life span can be up to 8-10 yrs. so this is a very big commitment, and make sure you have a vet near where you live, as ferrets are prone to cancers.
Good Luck!!

i can't recall how long ferrets lifespans are but first i would make sure you are willing to commit to caring for your ferret if your mom allowed this. also make sure you nor anyone else in your house or you are close to that comes to your house is not allergic to it...because i personally am very bothered by my sister in law's ferret, whom i think is absolutely adorable, but he makes my eyes itch...no matter how much you bathe or keep clean your ferret, they have this musky odor that goes w/ them and although YOU may love it, not everyone in your family or visiting family/friends may. Also, make sure you understand (and everyone in your household) knows how to properly treat/care for/discipline a ferret...sometimes they will bite/nip...you need to know what to do (not hit) when they do this...usually just by lovingly putting them in their cage with a firm NO will let them know it is not acceptable and back they go if that's how they will act if they do that...lets see what else...obviously your mom is not for the idea...look at her reasons WHY (monetary, allergies, smell, etc.) & then leave it be if she is adament about no ferret. When you are out on your own you can then get yourself a ferret. They are just one of those animals albeit very fun and cute, that have many things attached to having them around that aren't so grand for all people who come around them. ie. my Mother in law and my guy do not like ferret around them...If your mom said NO, then she means NO. leave it be and let it go and respect her decision...she is the MOM. she would have to live w/ the ferret too and obviously she is not too keen on the idea.

What are your reasons for wanting a ferret? Have you showed you mother that you are a responsible person and that you will take care of that pet, no matter what? Having a pet is a lot of work. It does not always look like it but they take a LOT of work and responsibility, so my advice is show your mom that you are mature enough for a pet, by helping out around the house, and taking care of yourself, your homework, and any other things that need to be done, before she asks them of you. Then she may think that you are ready for a pet, before she just jumps to the conclusion of NO right away.

Haven't you been on this ferret thing for a while now? You must really love the little guys! But if Mom says no, then no it is. Mom makes the rules.

Don't. They stink even if they've been descented. They won't use a litter box with any great regularity. They bite, even their owners. Now don't get me wrong...I've had ferrets. I love them, they can be great pets if they've been raised right. But it's like having a pit bull. Not a good animal to have around kids either. They have to be caged.

i live in western australia and own 4 ferrets. firstly ferrets are iilegal in some state so check this out first. my ferrets are very friendly and do not bite they just need to be trained not to (a puppy and a kitten will bite you too but you train them not to) to all the people that think that ferrets are rats check your facts they are actually closely related to your cat and dog THEY ARE NOT RODENTS. ferrets do smell but so does your dog if you dont bath it. i bath my ferrets once a week and they do not smell bad. ferrets are very active and fun they are extremly curious but are loving too. ferrets are not a huge amount of work compared to other pets its just a different kind of work as they require different things. Ferrets are not noisy at all the only sound they make is a chuckling noising (sounds like laughter) called dooking which unless you are in the same room as them you willnot hear it. ferrets are a barrel of laughs and very entertaining as they never really grow up and are always looking mischief. my big male ferrret called Boo is best mates with my staffordshire bull terrier and they love to play together around the house. My ferrets do not live inside my house they are caged in the backyard in a huge walk in avairy. i let them out everyday for some excerise and they also have their own harrnesses to go for a walk. ferrets have bad eyesight and can only see about 4 feet in front of them they use their ears to 'see' where they are. they are flesh eaters and will thrive on raw meat and some cat biscuits. they love chicken necks and grapes and lactose free milk. they really are lovely little pets and would give you more enjoyment than a rabbit or a guinea pig. they come in 3 colours albino (white with red eyes) silver mit (white with black eyes) and sable (white with brown legs and mask) they are prone to hot weather and can not cool them selves down but i live in the desert and installed a sprinkler misting system in their cage on a timer and it turns on in the middle of the day to cool them and they love it. So tell your mum your ferret can live out side in a cage at least 3x3 foot and you can walk him/her every day. you should also join a ferret club or association (do a gooogle search for one in your area) so that you are getting a quality animal and you have support from people who know ferrets. you should consider getting a girl ferret if smell is a real issue and get her desexed. if you decide on a male you can have his scent glands removed then he wont smell so much but like all animals regular bathing helps them smell fresh. if you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask me or contact your local ferret association. good luck on this mate i hope you get your little bundle of mischief. you wont regret it

Before u beg u need to show that u can take responsibility. Try volunteering at the animal shelter and doing chores without ur mom asking u to do them. Show her u can handle taking care of something.

one thing you dont need to get help from us to let youre mom to have you get a pet ferret any ways . if there must be the reason why, youre mom doesnt want you get one . one can be the reason is that she might think you wouldnt able take care of it or she doesnt like the bad smell of it and you have do really take care of ferret by cleaning and changeing their cage and feed them with right healthy foods and ect.. theyre not really easier to take care of . maybe you can tell youre mom soemthing like please i will take care my own thing and own pet dont need to worrying much if get out the cage . i once said that to my parents and they let me have one .
