I occationally check out books for my grandma but am running out of ideas. She hates violence, sexual promiscuity, or any books that are super depressing. She likes mysteries and Christian fiction the best as well as the classics, including children's classics.

Praise the Lord she is still able to read and enjoy literature.Absalom, Absalom! by WIlliam Faulkner, The Caine Mutiny by: Herman Wouk Go Tell It on the Mountain by: James Baldwin, The Invisible Man byRalph Ellison; Utopia by Thomas More. I would also suggest books of history and drama such as 'The Diary of Anne Frank". There are many religious books and religious history books in softback copies. Contact the AARP also; they have much information available for seniors. Has she read the "Left Behind" series? How about any CD's and books on tapes? There is so much out there, and much also depends upon what she likes to do - such as gardening, cooking, puzzles, etc. Check your local stores for magazines that might also be of interest. When my mother was alive - she loved to spend hours and hours in the library surrounded by books and private areas where she could read in comfort and feel "away from home" for a short period of time - talking with others of her own age. They had a 'reading' group or what we call a "book club". I hope she will enjoy some of these. God bless her and you for taking such an interest in your grandmother.

I would suggest anything by L.M. Montgomery, she is the author of Anne of Green Gables, they are clean nastolgic and even though they are listed as a young adult book, they are very well written and the stories are great. Also I would recommend anything by the christian writer Jane Okie who has written the popular Love comes softly trilogy that just got made into movies on lifetime station. They have only made a few movies, but she has written many books. Nicolas Sparks would be great for her also great stories, but some can be a little depressing in a happy/sad endings. If she likes mysteries then Agatha Cristi would be great for her, once again nostalgic and challenging.

Sounds like she has given you a good variety to go by. Ask the librarian for help, there should be lots of books that fit into those categories.
