Before you say anything to your family and friends the first thing you need to do is explore your sexuality to determine whether or not you're actually gay. Lots of people think that they're gay but when they start to have experiences they realise that they are straight. Experiment; start small with Internet chatting or skyping (I'll talk/flirt with you over email btw ;D), if you enjoy that then move on a bit and start meeting with guys, then try a kiss, oral, anal etc. and just stop if you don't feel comfortable or aren't enjoying it. Make sure you tell the person that you are unsure so that they understand and don't get offended. MOST INPORTANTLY BE DISCRETE: don't try anything with people who are likely to know your family, this sounds a little paranoid but they may reveal your secret at some point even if you don't want them to. Be willing to travel to other towns if you can and if you ever travel abroad this is a great opportunity. Secondly your crush on your friend is tough. He is straight and that is how it will stay. You could explore his personality a little, drop little hints "have you heard about the gay..." And see what his feelings are towards homosexuals. If he is seriously against then just leave it there, if not then push a little further. However in my experience it never works out, he will either reject you and make your friendship impossible to maintain, or he will use you as a sexual doormat and abuse your relationship. I think if you follow these two steps then you will realise that your third problem isn't that much of a problem. If you need to talk or want to chat to me then uou can use me email. I am open to talk about most things so don't hesitate. Good luck and I hope you can be happy x x

Of course it has been solved !!!!! But the remedy is in your own hands. After a stress related problem 20 years ago. I had the same symptoms as you describe, and after years of trying to find an answer, I finally stumbled on a solution that works great for me & I am sure would help sufferers with the same problem... You need to distract the brain from thought activity that keeps your mind turning over the events of the day, what does tomorrow bring, any form of stupid irrational thinking that keeps you from your rest... Relaxation & Concentration are the key ingredients.
Put yourself into a comfortable position in the bed. Try to relax each part of your body in turn, Feet, Knees, Trunk , Arms, Chest .Neck, Head. & finally relax your Mind. Empty your mind of all thought. Then take up a position using a finger to apply a slight pressure to your Nose , Ear, or Face. (I use my forefinger to apply that pressure to the tip of my nose) Close your eyes, but maintain your concentration on that small amount of pressure, do not allow that pressure to relax... Next thing you know your'e asleep.
Its stupid.....Its laughable..... If you tell anyone they will not believe you..... But, with a little practice, IT WORKS. Try it !!!!!!!!!
You have nothing to lose but your Sleep.

What kind of sleep problems do you mean? What's causing them?
If you set a time to sleep and spend a minimum of half an hour just kind of cooling down before you rest, that should help. Another thing that might help is a soothing cup of tea. Chamomile is generally good.
Good luck!

I went to the doctor and have tried different sleep aids, but I have a hard time sleepin due to ADD. I am in my 30's and re4alized that I just have a very active brain, which causes me not to sleep well..... Hmm i wonder if that is why i have a drink every night?
Regardless, i had a bad prob for a while, buti did ask for some sleep aids and used them for a little while, to retrain myself to go to sleep at night. Its worth an ask to the doc, the newer sleep meds are not narcotic, so you wont be ODing on them but they can really help when you are tired.
I use them when I am stressed, and know that if I lay down i will not sleep, then i use them.
Good Luck, but see yer doc its not that bad, ad you may end up sleeping better... I did.

I had this problem too for many years and I am so glad to be free of it. What helped me was sticking to a DAILY routine which included exercise (say a 20 or 30 min. brisk walk- the more exercise the better or course), some form of relaxation such as deep breathing or yoga for at least 15 min. and going to bed and getting up at roughly the same time every day ( within an hour from day to day). Most importantly, do not take ANYTHING to help you sleep. This includes "mild" over the counter medications, alcohol, and natural remedies. Everytime you take anything you are messing up your own natural chemistry and making it harder for yourself in the long run. Take this advice and you will be sleeping normally within a week and your sleep problems will become a distant memory.

Honestly the only thing i have ever used that really made me sleep well was marijuana. I'm no stoner burn out, i was in a similar situation. I never felt secure enough to go to sleep but the marijuana really calmed me down and made me tired. I don't need it regularly any more but for about three years it worked really well. I know its a big risk considering its illegal (I think this proves that it should be legal at least to those who don't abuse it). Depending on what your state laws are it may be worth asking some one in your local smoke shop where to get some.

Go to powerfulsleep.com and read Powerful Sleep - Secrets of the Inner Clock by Kacper M. Postawski. I have and it is helping me. The basic gist of it (though I highly recommend reading it in its entirety) is to exercise during the day, make sure you're getting enough sunlight, drink lots of water, keep to the same bed-time and waking-up time (ie. do not sleep in on weekends!), and learn about how body temperature affects sleepiness.
Also to deal with the trauma you have suffered throughout your childhood (and thus the poor sleep associations you have), try seeing a Kinesiologist. Kinesiology WILL be able to help you. It isn't cheap, but the change you'll notice in yourself and the peace of mind it brings is priceless. Trust me.

I believe you're suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress Syndrome. You're right...your body remembers the events of those nights and so is ever vigilant to protect you from the possibility of another attack. If you haven't already, please seek the help and guidance of a PTSS therapist. The therapist can help you feel safe, relax, and move on. Many blessings and sweet dreams to you.
