Pluralism basically says that in order moderate a system whether it be of values, of politics, or of esteem, that system must listen and observe to a variety of perspectives since one perspective rarely ever gets the correct view of a situation. The power elite are the people who are in charge of defining and sensing perspectives.

A pluralist is one who believes in the best system being one that is managed by many sides of an issue instead of just one side. Most people who support democracy are pluralists.

One example of a pluralist system is if you're at a baseball game between the Yankees and the Red Sox with your friends and you ask them who they think is going to win. One of them might say that the Yankees will because they've scored more runs, another friend might say the Red Sox will win because they haven't used any relief pitchers yet, and a third friend might say you can't tell because it's only the 6th inning. Here, you have multiple view points which each provide you with understanding of the game. The power elites are the friends that paid for the tickets and the one's who spoke up to tell you their opinions, and the pluralists are all of your friends who decided to go to the game.
