No, it is not possible to feel a babies heartbeat. You can hear the heartbeat when you have an ultrasound and you can feel the baby moving around after about the first 3-4 months.

Occasionally you may be able to feel a very faint heartbeat, but the baby has to be lying in a certain way,and you have to be still. You may be able to feel it better if the baby has a very fast, rhythmic heartbeat,if the thumps are erratic or they stop and start, then it is most likely hiccups. An easy way to check is to lie quietly and count the beats, but remember that your baby's heart can be in sync with yours.Sometimes, when you are further along, and the baby doesn't have much room, you might get lucky! Congrats!!!

If you felt it while you were laying on your back you probably felt the pressure of the baby laying on your arteries/veins.
I know the feeling you're describing because I felt that too....but it's your own pulse you're feeling....not the baby's heartbeat.
Good luck to you!!

My boyfriend said that he could feel and hear our babies heartbeat if he laid his head on my stomach. I never felt it personally, but I definitely felt all those kicks and rolling around business!! I bet you did feel the heartbeat.

Haven't ever heard of feeling the heartbeat.
You can hear it with the proper equipment.
Depending on how far along you are, it was most likely hiccups.
