Look up GLBT gatherings, for one. GLBT - gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender. You might also look up gay church meetings. They DO exist. Most Unitarian Universalist churches/fellowships are "Welcoming Congregations" which means they welcome all people regardless of sexual orientation. They are extremely liberal(not necessarily Christian, but some are).

Check out online websites that give listings for gay clubs, bars, events, etc in your area that you can go to. Since you live in a conservative area you may have to travel a little bit, but would be worth it to be social with others you can relate to.
