I'm an independent web designer. I have both 1099s and W-2s from employers/clients. I have to renew my business tax for 2007.

No. W-2 earnings are earned as an employee for another company. 1099 revenue and any other independent contractor revenue count as taxable revenue for the business subject to business tax.

Good Luck,

I would think that a renewal of a business license is applicable to only the self-emloyment earnings (the 1099). You don't need a business license for W-2 earnings.

NO NO NO

W-2 is withheld on and remitted as an employee. Do not do the government a favor by overpaying for your "business tax".

What state charges "business tax" anyway?
