Think of having sex. Now do what you would do except vertically and with your clothes on.
Just know that this is not considered dancing - it is called dry humping.

okay, well, if you can dance, then grinding should be not hard at all. as long as you get the basics, you'll be fine. since you already know how to go side to side, the moving in a circular motion is basically the same, but more..flowy. kay, if you can roll your hips, that is basically the idea. its sort of like hula hooping.. try practicing it by starting out going side to side, and then start rolling your hips around. ONLY your hips. try to keep your spinal cord out of the motion. the key to make everything connect, and not have an stops in your hips. also, you can add other things into your dancing to make it more..dirty if thats what you're after. ~

First of all you can't try and grind, per se... you have to just feel the music and be on point with the beat. Listen to it at your house and watch yourself in the mirror, if you would want to dance with you, then I'm sure you're doing just fine. Also, when you dance with a guy, especially grinding, let them lead you if you don't know what you're doing... you'll pick it up. And besides, when you get older, you'll find out grinding isn't that big of a deal anyway... its actually kinda gross... I'm only 23 and the only man I want to grind with on the dance floor is my man... going to the clubs and having a random guy all up on you is nasty. Good luck chica, and don't worry... just have fun!

Okey. For beginners, do the grinding slowly. There are many ways to do it, but the basic is similar to the Puerto Rican "Perreo Dance."
The grind or perreo is danced either clockwise or counter clockwise. For beginners, you may have difficulties doing it. People with bulging waist and stomach will find difficulties dancing this. Those I taught for the first time complained that it hurts their back and sides. Not only that its difficult for them to dance it, they will also look awkward dancing perreo. I would suggest they they trim down first before dancing publicly. For beginners with bulging stomach, this is a perfect exercise to get rid of all those flabs on theirs sides.
This is how to start dancing perreo or grind.
1. Stand straight, but relaxed. Find your center. The center is your navel. Squeeze your abs! Stomach in, and chest out! Its awkward to dance this with a bulging stomach and slouching shoulders.
2. Move your hips clock wise, that is starting to your right. Do it slowly for beginners. Make sure that its only the hips that moves, and not the navel. Upper body should be still and not moving with the hips. Move the hips to the right at the count of 1.
3. Move the hips from the right in a circular motion to your back at the count of 2. Making sure that the navel or your abs and upper body is not following the movement of your hips.
4. At the count of 3, move your hips positioned from your back to your left. Making sure again, that the navel or your abs and upper body is not following the movement of your hips.
5. At the count of 4, bring your hips to its original position. Then repreat the procedure. Or you may do it counter clockwise.
Try another variation by protruding your butt, and your chest positioned forward. For guys, its to show off their muscular shoulders and chest... for ladies, its to show off their bossoms. Then do the similar rotation of the hips.
Usually, the girl leads in this type of dance. The boy usually positioned himself behind the girl.

YOU have got them mixed up. Grinding is a circular motion and whin'n is a side to side motion with the hips. These are arfican/caribean moves. Your best bet is to dance how YOU feel comfortable! stay lose and have fun... its not a contest.

DEAR ALL GIRLS ANYWHERE, ANYTIME, ANYWHO:
It is not your job to be a good grinder, its our (the guys') jobs. We are supposed to follow your leads. You can mess up all you want and it still won't be your fault, it'll be one of ours'.
