I wouldn't use rabbit pellets as a substrate. A leaky water bottle or his potty area can cause mold growth and you wouldn't want your hamster to eat that. Carefresh works well with hamsters but so does plain paper toweling.

i have a hamster and tried all, pine made his nose watery and got sick, cedar even worse. hamsters are very sensitive and could easly get sick from those strong odors/chemical so yea carefresh is the best option :)

Won't the Hamster eat it?

no. the best brand is carefresh and the best thing to use is pine shavings. do not use cedar because most hamsters/gerbils are allergic to this and it will make their noses bleed.

use carefresh or aspen bedding. make sure not to use pine. i like carefresh because it's soft for my hammie and she loves it. it's super safe and doesn't stink.

make sure you clean and replace at least once a week though.

I wouldn't do that, as it could have bad effects if he eats it.
