I'm a high school drop out who got his GED, I was wondering that if I graduate from a two year college, would it be possible for me to be accpeted into MIT, my aspiration is to become a great Electrical Engineer. I read that MIT is known as the number one Engineering school in the country.

Yes, of course you can get in. I think it would be best though if you got your 2 year degree from a community college first though. I think it is great that you worked hard to get your GED. If you get good grades in the community college, you will have not hardships getting into MIT. You have worked hard and the college will see that you have worked hard for what you want in life. Who wouldn't want a student that has strived for what they want. History is only a part of a person, what you do from now on is the important part. Good Luck! You will get into MIT! Talk to your advisor at your community college and let them know you are striving to get into MIT. They will know the requirements that are needed to get you in without problems. Always ask for help when needed. Good Luck!

It is very possible! You need stellar grades at the community college, plus excellent recommendations from your professors. I'd recommend introducing yourself to your professors early in the semester and talking with them before and after class as much as you can. Also, try to get an internship somewhere (your professors might have some good leads for internships).

If you don't get into MIT for undergrad, you can still try for grad school. Personally I think a PhD from MIT is more impressive than a Bachelor's degree from MIT (by the way, I have a Bachelor's degree from MIT).

First off, congratulations on your aspirations! Second, good luck obtaining your goals! :)

There have been several studies published lately that indicate that the success of a college graduate in future earnings (and specifically as a CEO) does NOT hinge on whether he/she attended a top-notch (ie, EXPENSIVE) school. In fact, Univ. of Wisc. had a higher percentage of CEOs in the study than all the ivy-league schools combined. The studies didn't look at grad school stats, though.

So, my advice is to yes, get your AS degree from a community college and then find the least expensive option nearest you and go for it. Then, for grad school, set your sights on MIT, Case Western, Carnegie Mellon, Stanford, RPI, etc... when someone else is paying for your schooling and living expenses via graduate assistanceships.

Possibly but you will need top grades and recommendations by teachers and others for them to consider you.
