Nay. I wish that were the case. Most young people are generic, gym shoe wearing, droopy drawered, no personality types. The young ones of today have no originality. Nothing original has occured since the old days. It seems companies and corporations invent the styles for young people and they just put them on instead of creating a new rebellious original look as young people used to do and are supposed to do. Seems the youth of today likes commercial trash to be served up to them. Most of the styles of today are a variation of something done before. Nothing new. Boring teenagers of today wish they could be viewed as the way you describe. Keep trying and maybe you will get noticed. Yawn. None of you can even do promiscuous right. That is sad. Goth? Goth is all commercialized crap. Evil? Who cares if you slice and dice yourselves. Do something original. The young of today are lost. Lost minds, lost oppurtunities. Boring, boring, boring youth. Bouncing around in a fake world of video games, internet and cable t.v. Everything layed out and done for them. People in nursing homes have more enthusiasim.

Either that, or that we're all drinking, doing drugs, or having sex. I'm 17 and a senior in high school and have never done any of those things, I don't cut myself, I'm an avid reader (Yes, contrary to popular belief, there is at least one teenager who reads real literature outside of school), and, even after all of those things, I have friends!
I believe stereotypes about all groups of people need to stop.

One person who answered your question commented that the older generation "always sterotypes the young". Well, it goes the other way too. Young people have a habit of stereotyping their elders. I may have a generalized concept of today's young people based on the evidence that portrays the majority. I keep that to myself. When I meet a much younger person, I quietly evaluate that person in the same way I want others to evaluate me..... .. as an individual, and on the evidence that applies to that one individual.

You are correct. No group of people should be judged by the actions of a few. What you are experiencing is "ageism". When you encounter people who say that young people are all trouble makers, point out all the good works youth groups do and volunteer work done by young adults. Give them a poem you like or a recording of some songs you like that have positive messages. You could be the one to change people's minds! Speak up and be heard.

yes, i do. the problem is that large groups of loud kids can be intimidating. i know that there are horrible kids out there but you can't tar them all with the same brush. i think it is a lot harder for teenagers now. my daughter was given a leaflet on self harm because she wears thick eyeliner. apparently she was considered and "emo". Where i lI've there are loads of kids at a loose end, but if you are nice to them they will be nice to you. many a time ive got the local "terrors" bringing in my shopping from the car or going to the local shop for me. these teenagers are the adults of the future and as so they should be treated with compassion or they will grow to be adults with issues.

Unfortunately, teenagers aren't the only ones who are stereo-typed. I'm sure you have made a quick judgement about older people. It's human nature.

A big, fat Yes! It does need to stop. Unfortunately, "need" and "will" are a far cry from one another. I was never a "teenager." I did my own thing and some didn't like that I didn't join the "in crowd." That's their problem and I don't have to lower myself to worry about it.
