From http://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/backwardscompatibility.htm:

"How To Get Original Xbox Game Support for Xbox 360

Original Xbox® game support enables your Xbox 360™ video game console to play an array of games from your original Xbox video game console. A list of games that are currently backward compatible is available here and we will continue to add support for additional games over time.

Original Xbox game support requires a hard disk drive (HDD) accessory on your Xbox 360 console.

There are three ways to obtain updates for your Xbox 360 console:

* Update through Xbox Live®.
* Burn a DVD or CD.
* Order a disc by mail from Xbox.com."

And to check which games are compatible go to http://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/backwardcompatibilitygameslist.htm

If a game is supposed to be compatible for use on a 360, all you have to do is have a connection to Live. Your 360 will download an upfdate for the game, and it will start the game. Very easy process.

There is one of two ways to do this
1) You subscribe to "The Official Xbox" mag
or 2) Hook up to the internet for an automatic update
