I would go with Bale. For many reasons. I think that Keaton was a good Batman because of Tim Burton's direction. Bale was good all around. He was angry, dark, controlled, funny. Everything. And not to mention Batman begins is far more timeless than the first batman. I mean they threw in some crappy '90's music to make it hip. I know that I am getting away from the original question. But I think that the Batman is only as good as the movie overall. Clooney and Kilmer are good actors. But they were in REALLY BAD Batmans.

Michael Keaton, definately. He blew me away, Val Kilmer was the absolute worst, it was really upsetting. The movie flopped even with Chris O'Donell playing Robin. Then next greatest would have to Christian Bale but I dont think he was that good as Bruce Wayne. George made a good Bruce but a bad batman

The greatest Batman without question is Michael Keaton. C'mon, he plays a great dark character, while mixing in the admirable Bruce Wayne quality. What a great mix. Not that the others were bad, or that Michael is the first so he is the best, but- He was the best. He also played in the Batman movies with the best storylines.

I don't know about the best Batman because i liked all of them, but my favorite Batman movie was Batman Forever, so i'd have to go with Val Kilmer. Plus, he was definitely the sexiest Batman and his lips fit the mask perfectly:p

Christian Bale the best. Clooney the worst by far. He said that he played Batman as if he were gay. He had no understanding of the character's origins.

They were all good.
I would have to say my opinion is a tie between Michael Keaton and Christian Bale.
FYI-George Clooney was pretty good too. The movie tanked because the script sucked. He was fine
