well if it just happened like today you could give it 24-48 hours and chances are most of it will soak in or run off by itself. Unless it's cold outside, then let it freeze and get some ice skates. ;)

If the water is "ponding" and not running off because the slope of the land is wrong for it, then get hose. Put one end of it in the deepest part, and weigh it down with a rock or brick. run the other end to and area that is lower than the flooded area, and will drain the water away.

Then suck on the outflow end (it takes awhile if the hose is long), untill you acheive flow-through. The water will begin to drain, and continue until the flood-end of the hose is exposed to the air.

It works. I've used this myself just a year ago.

Of course - if you have a small pump - use that. But I'm assuming you don't since you're asking the question.

You need to dig a trench to a drain off place

a trench dug to a lower ground would help.
if its flooded again then you may want to consider treating your backyard cause it definitely have a bad drainage system!

Rent a trash pump from a rental store. Not hard to use.
