Sorry to say but all the answers that say the song was originally Prince's are incorrect. All songs on the In Your Honor album, including Best Of You were written by The Foo Fighters.

it is a Foo Figthers song ... from the In Your Honor album ... I imagine he was inspired to cover a Foo Fighters tune since they have covered Darling Nikki at some of their shows
