In a word, yes. Mostly because of their very large size (some tank specimens have reached over 3 feet) and their very agressive atittude. Getting that large they need something on the order of a 250 gallon tank that is not less than 8 feet long and because they eat other fish, they could have almost no tank mates.

I love these. If your tank is big enough, they can get large. I started with brine shrimp (frozen) and with age and size fed mine feeder gold fish. A really interesting fish. Have fun. Mine got 20 inches long. Have a nice year.

no there not but you may wanna make shore you have a 100 gallon for when it gets bigger.it gets 36 inches if in wright enviorment.

if this is your first fish, i would start out with a FRESH WATER fish that is easy to take care of such as a beta fish or a guppy (freshwater guppy)
