I also think you are born that way. My father is a Gay man, and I take after him alot, except I am straight women. I enjoy sex as much as a male, act like a guy (sometimes) but love looking nice. So If i were born a man, there is a very good chance that I woudl be gay.
Why causes a human to be Homosexaul or hetro is still unknown. Some say it is a mutant gene, I say that is the bodys way of keeping a certain defect from passing onto offspring (And I don't mean "Gay" as a defect, i'm talking about serious social disorders...)So Please don't anyone take that wrong..
As for homosexuality being a "sin" ONLY if you choose to belive in Christinaity. If you aren't Christian, the how is it a sin? So, for all those who its a choice..did you choose your personality? Did you choose your skin color? Did you choose your gender? Did you choose who you lilked when you 3 or 4? No, it was nature who "choose" that for you...

Im a Christian and i believe God made man for woman and vice versa, that was the original plan. The whole make up of our bodies are to suit reproduction with the opposite sex. Therefore homosexuality is not instilled at birth, it depends on a number of factors such as socialization, beliefs, environment etc. The choice of homosexuality, like personality, may not be a conscious decision but these factors train the mind and steer it in that direction.

Mull this over: I once worked with a nice guy who eventually confided in me that he was gay and his comment about it was "If I'd had a choice, I sure wouldn't have chosen this. Its lonely and its too damned hard." The idea that someone would CHOOSE a position in life where their chances of finding a mate were severely reduced, they would be subject to general disapproval and many of their acquaintances and employers might reject them utterly is preposterous.
Moreover, sexuality is just one aspect of a person and a very private one. I find it perverse that anyone thinks its their business or that its something they can change from without. Bringing religion into it makes it almost insane. Claiming that gay people are child molestors is also dubious, since virtually all who are convicted of such things are heterosexual. Add that fact to your consideration of the situation.
Life is difficult enough. As long as someone is behaving themselves as an honorable person as far as YOU can see, let well enough alone. Its not your place to judge and thinking in such terms diminishes you more than the person upon whom you are venting that negative energy. One decent gay person trumps a hundred finger-pointers who have their heads on sideways about a non-issue.

People need to accept a fact that somebody is homosexual. It is 21st century. Does it matter if somebody is born with it or not. People like to condem different sexual orientations to feel better about their lives. Watch Broke Back Montain. It explains everything. Just many people do not want to watch it and get some education.

People are born with physical and mental abnormalities everyday that cause physical or mental problems; who's to say that there can't be a mutation or abnormality that causes homosexuality? People would NOT choose to be dicriminated against by judgemental, intolerant people if they had a choice. They DON'T have a choice. People have been BORN this way since the beginning of time. Its nothing new.

I like the way Kinsey looked at it: He thought all of us are born on a sexuality continuum, from totally heterosexual--to heterosexual--to bisexual--to homosexual--to totally homosexual.
But it depends on your socialization and your personality whether you will act on anything that you feel that is bisexual or homosexual, since most societies are hatefully homophobic.

I think it is a mixture of both, to be honest. Some are born with it, but I think there are some that choose it, wether it is a conscious decision or not. Either, way, whatever floats your boat as long as you aren't molesting others, especially children.

Anyone who claims that it is some kind of a choice would first have to prove that they were indeed born desiring the same gender. That they really, honestly desire to have sex with people of the same gender, that they are only attracted to members of the same gender but (at some point in their life) they made a 'choice' to go for the opposite gender.

I agree with the other voter. It is a choice. There is no evidence of a predisposition to this lifestyle. I do not think there is cause to believe that this is a hereditary trait either.
Paul the Apostle wrote this. " For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another: men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompense of their error which was meet." Romans 1:26,27.

I'm convinced they're only born with a homosexual seed or tendency. But it is like alcoholism, it is a tough choice to deny.
