the best game dunker Ive ever seen was Dominique Wilkins...constantly dunking in traffic in games a number of the top professionals playing at the time also said he was the best 'game' dunker, the best slam performance was by 5'5 spud webb, absolutely amazing...the last aba slam dunk contest with dr j and david thompson was sick too...

for those that dont know david thompson broke into the aba from n carolina state, the team that broke ucla's 88 game win streak...stories abound about DT jumping so high he could snatch quarters off the top of a backboard...he was a real high flyer...esp since he was only about 6'4, and doc...well...if youre a bb fan you know the story...

btw I took my best friend to that 2000 slam dunk contest...he took a pic of vince with his elbow practically in the rim on that dunk, we made a nice framed pic and ticket display...

for the record, of course it looks more impressive when someone spuds size does what he did, cause he did have to have unbelieveable timing and great hops, I didnt say rate the greats, just single performances...

Couple of bests in my humble opinion:

-Most amazing dunker: Spud Webb dunking anything.

-Most majestic looking dunk: Jordan from the free throw line.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=Lf6z6Vj7Pns the last dunk in the video

-Most innovative dunk: Isaiah J.R. Rider's between the legs dunk (takes coordination to do)

-Most vicious dunk: Vince Carter elbow dunk.

-Best dunk I seen in a preseason game: Kobe Bryant in 1997-1998 versus the Washington Wizards. He just kept rising and rising and rising.

-Best dunk I seen in a regular season game: Jordan over Patrick Ewing (I'm pretty sure it was in the regular season).
http://youtube.com/watch?v=aLPjzdCyYBo at about the 39 second mark.

-Tie Best dunk I seen in a playoff game: John Starks over the Chicago Bulls frontline (I forget the year but I think 1993 playoffs).
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7vzB8Ujf6Mo
and Kevin Johnson over Olajuwon which I think was in the 95 playoffs

-Most funniest dunk: 92-93 season game with the Orlando Magic vs. the Phoenix Suns. A rookie called Shaq dunked and somehow made the basket collapse. If you ever see the footage he looked scared like it was coming down on him so he ran away as fast as he could.

-Worse dunk: Cedric Ceballos' blind fold dunk. I remember someone else trying to repeat this and he missed horribly.

-Honorable mention: Double pump and windmills by Dominique Wilkins. Check the alleyoop dunk at the 46 second mark.

Bron is extra of a interest dunker than a contest dunker. yet having stated that, he might desire to've entered the contest a minimum of as quickly as in deference to the super extreme-flyers before him who all entered and gained a minimum of one dunk contest, i.e. Dr. J, Nique, MJ, Kobe and Vince.

I'd say shaq and lebron and dwight howard, and eddy curry: they could take it to the rim at will. I also think that d wilkins and lebron are alike in there game. vince carter, jr smith, a iguadala, josh smith, spudd webb, jordan, Dr.J, nate the great. these r my favorite dunkers and they could jump over 40 inches vertically.

Dominique, Thompson & Dr. J. Flip a coin.

As far as Spud Webb, don't even mention him in the same breath. What he did only looked great because he is short. Comparing him with any of the greats is laughable.
