The five westernmost countries in Europe are: Iceland, Ireland, Portugal, Spain, and the United Kingdom.
The rest of the countries that are considered part of "Western" Europe are France, Andorra, Belgium, The Netherlands, Norway, Luxembourg, Germany, Denmark, Switzerland, Italy, Monaco, Sweden, The Vatican City, San Morino, Liechtenstein, and Austria.
All of the former Warsaw Pact countries (or their fragments) are still considered "Eastern Europe" as the old Iron Curtain was always considered the border between "Western" Europe and "Eastern" Europe. Russia, however, is getting the feeling that that border is moving farther and farther east as more and more of the former Communist countries are joining NATO - a military alliance that Russia still perceives as a threat.
