Fish are very smart. I feed my salt water tanks the same time every day and when it comes time for feeding they all over by the spot where i feed then waiting for the food. My fresh water tanks do the same thing. The fish a breed i can get then to eat right out off my hand but only i can do that any one else puts their hand in the tank the fish hide. so yes i think they are very smart.

Fish are actually very smart!
My fish have associated the "blue can" with feeding time. They have also associated my turning down filter flow with feeding time.
Many fish have many different smarts.
Oscars, for example, have loads of personality, such as eating out of your hands and other creative behavior. Koi also are very smart. They can also eat out of your hands if they trust you well enough.
People say that fish only have a memory of only a few seconds,... but to me, that DOES NOT seem so!
They know what food is what, what algae is,... what to stay away from (filter intake, heater, etc.)

I think that fish are smart they notice everything in their surroundings and act just like anybody else they play sleep eat etc
